Did you hear about the cartoon characters that are going to star in a new video game that makes fun of video games? No, not that one. I'm talking about "The Simpsons Game", which MTV News' crack west coast team got the low-down on a couple of nights ago. These guys got me some good stuff. Check out our report at MTVNews.com.
Where else will you find Matt Groening saying the game is "not easy" and that he can't really play it?
Where else will you find a "Simpsons" TV producer and game writer talking about EA as a "completely different corporate monolith"?
Where else do you want exclusive details (barely -- trust me, I'm over-selling) on a "Simpsons" Wii mini-game?
A count on the number of TV show characters in the game?
A minute of video from the game?
Certainly not here. No sir. Here is where I instead exclusively pose this question:
Does anyone else find it ironic that EA, rightly or wrongly dogged for a lack of innovation, is presenting as a core innovation in "The Simpsons Game" the idea that it pays homage (i.e. playfully references/ jokingly copies) to other games?
I think that's kind of brilliant, EA.
