Readers, I'm running out to catch a plane. Part two of my "Halo 3" Vs Mode with N'Gai Croal is live. Part 3, the final round, hits tomorrow. I think this one got better and better as it went on. By the last one I was killing an animal while writing it. Literally. Read about it tomorrow.

      Hey Stephen,
I just finished reading the second entry to your Halo 3 conversation. And I think you made some excellent points. I'm commenting because I wanted to let you know that there is hope for neophytes to the halo community. I myself aspire to be a excellent teacher of the game as well as a worthy opponent within it. And there are more like minded individuals who enjoy patiently teaching others how to play.

I've actually created a lesson plan (much like the kind your teacher had for the class in 3rd grade in order to help some of my friends learn how to play Halo 2 multiplayer. The plan's progression is similar to what you outlined in your letter. Basics come first, like learning how to get around the map without using jumps, or learning to aim and then hit a stationary target (I have learned those two are not mutually exclusive for some folks). It would be cool to has some more or less official training camp for the multiplayer component, but I think that is something that Bungie will probably leave to it's robust community.

At any rate I wanted to let you know there are those of us veterans who welcome new people to the ranks and want to help you out instead of humping your fallen corpse. I'm not up and running on a 360 yet but if you're still looking for some tolerant companions and/or lessons shoot me an email. Oh, and from experience I can tell you that there is an almost euphoric high when you achieve your goal and win a team game. The hard part is hanging on till you can get a group together with the right mix of camaraderie, skill, and intensity to win.

I gots to run but thanks for sharing your thoughts,
Hope you decide to try multiplayer again after Sept 25th.

      Sincerely,

      Mister Chris
