It started with a mobster falling through the floor of a bank, arms waving as he plummeted to blackness and as my PS3 stopped running “The Godfather II.” It was going to end, I feared, in the death of my Sony super-console.

Yesterday, I stared down the impending doom that would snuff out my PS3. And, I think, I won. (more…)

I finished “F.E.A.R. 2” yesterday, exhausted by all the shooters I’ve been playing. I wondered: Why do I consume so much of what feels like hollow culture?

What do I want from shooters? And is what I want what I should expect from a genre defined by the action of gunning people down? (more…)

Today is the first day of my vacation. And I’ve started it by bringing this site back to life. Until further notice, it’s the new home of my Game Diary, which formerly lived at MTV Multiplayer.

I’ll improve the layout at some point. But let’s start stimply for now, ok?
